Saturday June 29, 2013 starting at 5pm (dinner) and 7pm (movie)
Please join DOCOMOMO NOCA at a movie night to celebrate a mid-century modern gem in San Jose!
Put on your best Mad Men/circa 1960s attire and join us for dinner and a movie at the Bay Area’s first Cinerama Dome theatre, one of the last few remaining in the U.S.
Meet us for dinner at 5 PM at the Flames Restaurant, located at 449 South Winchester Blvd., one of the best preserved examples of the Bob’s Big Boy prototype that architects Armet & Davis created for Bob Wian in the late 1950s.
Following steaks and shakes, the group will head over to the Century 21 for the 7:00 PM regularly-scheduled movie.
The Century 21, built in 1964 as a showcase for Cinerama films, was the first dome to be constructed by the Bay Area-based Century Theatres chain. Located at 3161 Olsen Drive, the theater was the first of the three Winchester domed theaters. Come show your support for the Century 21 and see a movie under the fabulous dome.
PLEASE RSVP by June 20 to firstname.lastname@example.org
