Join us for a walking tour of Levi’s Plaza, just off San Francisco’s Embarcadero, to learn about landscape architect Lawrence Halprin and architect Gyo Obata and their inspirations in designing this urban corporate campus.
Lawrence Halprin is one of the most prolific and influential Modernist landscape architects in the country, and his office was just around the corner from Levi’s Plaza. Intended to be an urban corporate campus for Levi Strauss, Levi’s Plaza is also an open space that is enjoyed by the Embarcadero community and visitors alike. The design features two distinct, yet complimentary areas, the Soft Park and the Hard Park—both of which draw inspiration from the natural California environment. The plaza, dedicated in 1982, is surrounded by undulating brick buildings designed by Gyo Obato of HOK with Genlser + Associates.
Tickets will be available on Eventbrite. Please check back for details or subscribe to our newsletter to receive notice when tickets become available.
